You have reached the lab for Bioacoustics and Sensory Biology at the University of Lincoln. We conduct research in the physiology of animal communication, using insects as model organisms. The head of the lab is Dr. Fernando Montealegre-Z., who is a Professor with the School of Life Sciences. We concentrate primarily in the biomechanics and physiology of structures specialized for the reception and production of ultrasound sound and in how these have evolved. In particular we study Orthoptera insects as models of acoustic communication.
